The W. Harris MUD 10 board recently approved a measure to install electronic “smart” meters throughout the district. These meters will allow the home owner to monitor water usage at an hourly level and you will be able to get alerts on your phone or email if a water leak is suspected. After all the damage from the big freeze this should help us avoid big surprises in the future. In addition to detecting large leaks homeowners can look to see if toilets are running in the middle of the night or even help detect leaks in your irrigation system.
A schedule for installation has not been developed yet so watch this space and your water bills for further details. Once all homeowners have the new meters the MUD will host information sessions at the subdivision common areas to assist with questions and phone app installation questions.
